Bone Diseases

Bone disease is vast concept which covers all the conditions affecting bones. It’s a condition that damages skeleton and makes bones weak. The most common bone disease is osteoporosis. It is marked with low mass and damage of bone structure.
Other bone diseases are Pagat’s disease and osteogenesis imperfecta. They are commonly observed in old people. Latter disease is inherent which causes brittle bones.
The term also includes bone cancer. This is generally observed in long bones of hands and legs.

Causes :
Though many bone diseases do not show any causes, following are most commonly observed causes. They vary for different diseases.

1. Genes
2. Lack of calcium and other minerals.
3. Early trauma.
4. Smoking also narrows down the tissues.
5. Lack of vitamin D.
6. Loss of blood flow in the particular area of bone.
7. Extra strain on bones.
8. Old age. With age the liquid in bones dries quickly. Also the cartilage becomes more and more weak.

Symptoms :
There are many symptoms in bone diseases. Some are visible in early stage or in later age.
Bone pain:
The pain is high in affected area. It is worse if you overdo the exercise.

Bone Deformities :
Deformities are observed in long bones. They can be like enlarged skull or bowed legs.

Fracture :
Weakened bones break more easily. A fracture from a minor injury is another possible sign of MBD.

Anemia :
The most common sites of spread — spine, pelvis, ribs, skull, upper arm, and long bones of the leg — correspond to areas of bone marrow that produce high levels of red blood cells, the cells responsible for carrying oxygen to tissues in the body. Anemia (decreased red blood cell production) is a common blood abnormality in patients with MBD
